The Philly Festive Tour this week was the Rittenhouse Square Tree Lighting Ceremony. Lucky for us the original date was moved due to rain and we were able to attend on December 1st, 2016. The park was bustling with strollers and small dogs and with shin safety aside, we ventured toward the center of the park.
The ceremony began at 5pm with speeches by the sponsors and performances by Philly’s musical sparkling stars, The Greater Overbrook String Band. Santa was soon called to action and the party was LIT!
There was a toy drive hosted by CBS 3 and many of the people attending brought an unwrapped toy to help share the holiday spirit. ALSO: if you still want to donate a toy HERE is information on where to donate. They are accepting toys until December 20th.
Parc Restaurant supplied delicious hot chocolate and TD Bank brought hats for everyone. While the tree lighting ceremony was a one time party, we would still recommend walking through Rittenhouse Square to see the lights. Have a spiked hot chocolate or two at Parc afterwards to warm up. Cheers!
